Welcome to the Social Centre of Newland

British pubs, central to British life, play a pivotal role in local communities and the Ostrich Inn is no exception, acting as a unique social centre and the focus of community life for the village. Although the building dates back to the thirteenth century, the exact age as a pub is unknown, but over the years it has focused on offering a good range of traditional beers, wines and spirits.

Nowadays it is well known locally for its wide range of excellent cask conditioned real ales. The landlady delights in offering up to 8 varieties, varying in alcoholic content and taste. Around half of these are regularly changed so that over the last year customers have experienced a host of differing guest beers. With such a welcoming range and attention to detail it is hardly surprising that the Ostrich Inn has been nominated in recent years by several breweries in their pub of the year competitions.

The quality of the refreshments on offer draw customers in from the surrounding areas and enable the Ostrich to regularly host performances by traditional dancers, mummers and singers, all bringing their own style of entertainment to a welcoming public.

Recent offerings have included:-
We also stock a wide range of other beers and lagers plus traditional Budvar Lager and Scrumpy, both on tap, as well as Guinness and Caffreys. With well kept local real ales, a good selection of malt whiskies and wide choice of quality wines served by the glass or bottle, the Ostrich Inn is a popular meeting place where we look forward to welcoming you.
